Board Membership

The American Cancer Society Foundation Board of Trustees is made up of up to 35 active Trustees, as well as Trustees Emeriti and Advisory Trustees. Prospective members of the American Cancer Society Foundation Board are proposed to the Foundation's Nominating Committee that then votes to recommend the prospective member to the ACS Inc. Board.

The Foundation Board of Trustees meets twice each year and conducts other business via conference calls and smaller meetings. Active Trustees are community, corporate, and philanthropic leaders of impeccable character who have a strong personal interest in fighting cancer and are willing to help the American Cancer Society acquire significant financial gifts in support of its mission.

Advisory Trustees are individuals who are interested in learning more about the Foundation, or those who want to continue to serve in a less active role. Advisory Trustees are invited to attend all meetings and functions; however, they are not able to vote as full members of the board.

Trustees Emeriti are former members of the board whose contributions to our organization have deemed them this honorary title. They are invited to participate in all meetings and functions and included in all communications from the American Cancer Society Foundation.
