During his 20 years of volunteer service, Dr. Seffrin served the Society at the local, state, and national levels before being named the Society's top staff executive in 1992. Prior to taking this post, he was chairman of the Department of Applied Health Science at Indiana University. In addition to his role as Society CEO, Dr. Seffrin serves as president of the International Union Against Cancer, a nongovernmental organization committed to controlling cancer worldwide. He is also chairman of Independent Sector, the only national forum that brings together foundations, corporate giving programs, and nonprofit organizations to empower the nonprofit community.
