Dr. Audrey Manley is president emerita of Spelman College. She has served as acting Surgeon General of the United States and Deputy Surgeon General. She is the first African American woman to achieve the rank of Assistant Surgeon General (Rear Admiral), and the first woman to be named Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health, and Acting Assistant Secretary for Health.
